Why subscribe to Wicked History?
I’ve long had a fascination with history’s more sordid events and characters. My four New York Times bestselling works of narrative nonfiction tell the stories of two enterprising bordello madams, a literary burlesque legend, female Civil War spies, the most successful bootlegger in American history, and (coming soon) an eccentric group of exiles who attempt to build a Utopia on the Galapagos Islands in the 1930s (spoiler alert: it does not end well). I used to write a regular history column for Smithsonian Magazine called Past Imperfect, and I’m now happy to share my “wicked” dispatches here. Have a suggestion? Email me with any historical tales/subjects worth exploring, and—even better—any scandalous tales from your own personal history you’re inspired to share.
Also: contests, giveaways, the occasional Q&A with fellow history nerds, book and writing craft chat, and gratuitous glam shots of my African Grey parrot, Dexter.
